Commercial Pilot Training (CPL)

About CPL Training

A Commercial Pilot License allows you to act as pilot-in-command of an aircraft for compensation or hire. This opens the door to professional aviation careers in the UAE and internationally.

Course Prerequisites

* Sunsea with its partner flying school will apply for your security clearance when all your documents with course application fee are received.

  • High school or equivalent as a minimum education
  • Good command of the English language
  • Minimum age 17 years to enrol for the course and 18 years to obtain a license
  • Class I Medical certificate by a UAE GCAA physician
  • Security clearance required by law prior to commencing flight training in the U.A.E.
  • Personal interview with the flying school enrollment committee

Commercial Pilot Program in the UAE

Integrated Training Program

The Commercial Pilot Program (Integrated Course) in the UAE offers a comprehensive path from zero experience to a fully qualified commercial pilot. This structured program combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on flight training, designed to meet UAE GCAA standards and prepare you for a successful aviation career.

Training Structure

  • GCAA Private Pilot License (PPL): 40 Hours Cessna 172 Aircraft + 45 Hours Ground Instruction
  • Hour Building Phase: 95 Hours Cessna 172 Aircraft
  • FAA Instrument Rating (IR): 15 Hours DA 40 G1000 GLASS Aircraft + 10 Hours DA 42 G1000 GLASS Aircraft + 100 Hours Ground Instruction
  • Total Training: Minimum 190 hours ground training and 190 hours Single Engine + 10 hours Multi Engine
  • 200 hours minimum at end of CPL course to obtain UAE GCAA CPL

Entry Prerequisites

  • High school or equivalent as minimum education
  • Good command of the English language
  • Minimum age 17 years to enrol, 18 years to obtain license

Assessment Requirements

Written Tests: Pass three knowledge tests (PPL, IR, CPL) with 75% or better. Tests administered at GCAA facility with 75 multiple-choice questions covering all theoretical areas. Flight Tests: Successfully complete three practical tests (PPL, IR, CPL) conducted by GCAA inspector or designated examiner with proficient, experienced flight instructors.

Multi-Crew Pilot License (MPL) Course Breakdown

Ground School

Theoretical knowledge classes of 14 ATPL subjects based on EASA standards

Core Flying

70 hours on single engine aircraft

Basic Flying

Transition from single pilot to Multi-Crew Cooperation

Intermediate Flying

Application of multi-crew operations to a multi-engine turbine airplane conducted on Airbus A320 simulator

Hours on Airbus A320 full flight simulator and type rating

Base Training
